Marqués de Reinosa has done it again. On 28 May, the Caja Rioja Foundation and CaixaBank held the awards ceremony for the 35th La Rioja Winemakers’ Wine Competition and the third edition of the Village Wine Competition. In the latter contest, Marqués de Reinosa won first prize. A feat that becomes a milestone after becoming the best Village Wine three years in a row, since this contest was established in 2023.
This year 51 wineries took part, 10 of them for the first time, with 115 samples. Wineries from 25 towns and villages in La Rioja took part.
The awards ceremony was attended by the president of Fundación Caja Rioja, Pablo Arrieta, the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment, Noemí Manzano, the head of AgroBank in La Rioja of the Ebro Territory of CaixaBank, Rocío Sigüenza, and the president of the Control Board of the D.O.Ca Rioja, Fernando Ezquerro.
Marqués de Reinosa Garnacha Tinta Colección Privada 2023
The award-winning wine in this 2025 edition is the Marqués de Reinosa Garnacha Tinta Colección Privada Vintage 2023. This red Garnacha wine, from old vineyards in the foothills of Monte Yerga, stands out for its elegance and character. It has an attractive cherry colour, and on the nose it reveals varietal aromas with notes of red fruit, scrubland herbs and mineral notes, subtly spicy and balsamic. On the palate it shows structure, body and concentration, with an excellent persistence that highlights its quality.
Major milestone
Marqués de Reinosa Garnacha Tinta Colección Privada joins an exclusive list of wines that have shone in the Rioja Village Wine Competition.
In its first edition, that of 2023, the winner was the Marqués de Reinosa Tempranillo Blanco Colección Privada 2020; a white wine with great complexity on the nose, with elegant notes of tropical fruit, citrus and white flowers, in harmony with the toasted and spicy nuances of its ageing in oak barrels.
That same year, third place went to Marqués de Reinosa Tempranillo Tinto Colección Privada 2021; a red wine with an intense cherry colour and a violet rim. On the nose, elegant and sweet, with notes of black fruit, balsamic and mineral touches, combined with a pastry perfume and sweet spices from the barrel ageing.
En 2024, el Marqués de Reinosa Garnacha Tinta 2022 se alzó con el primer premio y, en tercer lugar se alzó el Marqués de Reinosa Maturana Tinta 2022; elaborado a partir de viñedos seleccionados de maturana, presenta un color violeta muy intenso, se diría tinta. En nariz es profundo y elegante, con una dulce mezcla de frutos negros, especias, dulces y café. En boca, corpulento, concentrado y duradero.
In three years, Marqués de Reinosa has built a dynasty of great village wines that confirm the quality and work of our winery.
Awards
In addition to the trophy and the diploma accrediting it as the winner of the Village Wine Competition, Marqués de Reinosa also receives a stand for the presentation, exhibition and sale of the winning wine and other wines from the winery during the 56th La Rioja Agricultural Competition on the Paseo del Espolón in Logroño on Sunday 14 September 2025.
In addition, there will be a selection of wines from all the award-winning wineries for the III Popular Tasting led by the Rioja Wine Guild, which will take place on Sunday 14 September at El Paseo del Espolón to coincide with the aforementioned La Rioja Agricultural Competition.
We will also be present through a tasting led by the Cofradía del Vino de Rioja (Rioja Wine Guild), presence in specialised magazines of the sector and in the general press.
And, as a novelty, thanks to the collaboration of the Directorate General of Rural Development of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment of the Government of La Rioja, the winning wineries of the first prize in each category, including Marqués de Reinosa, are entitled to participate free of charge with a standard space in the next edition of the Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) to be held from 2 to 4 February 2026 in the city of Barcelona.
